If you could give one piece of advice to incoming students, what would it be?
鈥淎s a first-generation college student, I wish I had someone to demystify the higher education process when I first started applying to college. My biggest piece of advice to incoming students is to reach out to schools you are interested in exploring. We are all here to help! You don鈥檛 have to be an admitted student to connect with staff!鈥�

“The greenhouse by Ramsey Library. It鈥檚 cool in the warmer months, and warm in the cooler ones. Plus the atmosphere is just so nice with all of the plants, and you鈥檙e right next to Smoothie Lab!”

“My favorite memory was my experience doing Study Abroad. I spent roughly a month going all across different cities in Ireland, and it was just overall an incredible experience.”

What’s your go-to advice for students feeling stressed during the college application process?
“You are not alone! We are here to help, so reaching out when you鈥檙e feeling overwhelmed is always encouraged. The college application process can be daunting and scary for everyone, so just breathe, and let us know where we can help.”

鈥淢y favorite spot on campus is the botanical gardens. I love to stroll along the paths and enjoy all of the beautiful plants and wildlife.鈥�

If you could give one piece of advice to incoming students, what would it be?
鈥淕ive yourself grace. Transitioning to college life isn鈥檛 always easy, and it鈥檚 okay to ask for help. Practice self-care, take breathers, drink water, and lean on your support systems!鈥�

鈥淎sheville has an incredible range of public parks and nature trails that my family and I visit often. Some of our favorites include French Broad River Park, the North Carolina Arboretum, and Carrier Park.鈥�

“Dr. Caitlin Meagher’s anthropology course, ‘Clothing, Culture, and Society’! I love fashion, and this class taught me a lot about how and why people dress the way they do.”

鈥淭he Botanical Gardens! A wonderful place to relax and get 鈥榓way鈥� from it all 鈥� right there on campus! Plus, there鈥檚 a moon tree.鈥�

鈥淎 bunch of us gathered in The Grotto in Highsmith Student Union to watch the election night results in 2008. We had a big map on the wall and colored in each state as the results were announced. It was incredible to experience that with fellow students.鈥�

If you could give one piece of advice to incoming students, what would it be?
鈥淭ry all the things. Going to one club meeting doesn鈥檛 commit you for the whole year 鈥� just give it a shot and see what fits.鈥�

If you could give one piece of advice to incoming students, what would it be?
鈥淰isit campus! You鈥檙e never going to get a true representation of a college through a website. Visit as many universities as possible to get a feel for the campus and the students. That鈥檚 the best way to decide if you will be happy there for the next 4 years.鈥�

What is a favorite book, movie, or TV show you enjoy? Why?
鈥淚 have literally been watching WWE Monday Night RAW since it debuted in 1993. I have continued to watch it, because it is one constant in my life that can take me back to my childhood when I didn鈥檛 have to worry about 鈥榓dulting鈥�.鈥�
